My name is Liz Barrett and I work as Deputy Director for Academy Transformation Trust Further Education based at Sutton Community Academy. Part of my role involves ensuring that local people have access to Adult and Community Learning allowing them to upskill, gain new knowledge, achieve qualifications and enhance their career opportunities as well as quality of life opportunities.
I personally have a love for learning. My qualifications include a PGCE in lifelong learning at MSc level, a Masters in Health Psychology along with a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management. In addition, I also enjoy walking in the countryside, taking landscape photos, cooking / baking and textile art.
My name is David Mackey. I am a Temporary Vice Principal of Student Learning and Senior Designated Safeguarding Lead at Sutton Community Academy.
I have been a member of staff at Sutton Centre Community College and Sutton Community Academy for eleven years and have seen it develop throughout this time whilst ensuring consideration for others. I will endeavour to ensure all students and staff are happy, safeguarded and achieving the best of their ability whilst also developing the character education of our students to ensure they leave school as resilient young adults.
My name is Angela Finn. I am a Staff Governor, also currently serving on the Curriculum and Standards Committee.
My first experience of this school was as a student teacher, twenty years ago. I loved it so much that I stayed, taking on numerous roles and responsibilities over the years. After taking some time out to have my two children, I am currently Head of Media Studies. As an established member of staff but a relatively new Governor, I hope to bring both experience and innovation to the role, ensuring that the welfare and achievements of the children that I teach remains at the heart of everything we do.
My name is Steve and I help manage a family run health and social care business. We provide permanent and respite care, day care and support approximately 250 service users in the wider community. We have over 200 employees and are also an accredited training provider and “investor in people” company.
I have lived in Sutton in Ashfield for 12 years and have two primary school aged children. I have previously served as a local authority appointed primary school governor.
I have a 2:1 BSc Degree in Psychology and a longstanding interest in education. I was very impressed with this school from my first visit and look forward to being a “critical friend” and support to the dedicated team at Sutton Academy. I also feel I can learn from my experiences as a governor.
My name is Charlotte and I am a parent governor at Sutton Community Academy.
I wanted to become a governor so that I could play a more active role in the education of children attending the school.
I believe that Sutton Community Academy is an ‘outstanding’ school with great community links and the school works hard to help each child reach their full potential.
I am enjoying my time as a governor and hope to stay in this role for the foreseeable future.
