My name is Liz Barrett and I work as Principal for Academy Transformation Trust Further Education. Part of my role involves ensuring that local people have access to Adult and Community Leaning allowing them to upskill, gain new knowledge, achieve qualifications and enhance their career opportunities as well as quality of life opportunities.
I personally have a love for learning and the impact that it can have upon your life at every level. On a personal level I enjoy walking in the countryside, taking landscape photos, cooking / baking and textile art.
My name is Angela Finn and I teach English and Media Studies at Sutton Community Academy. I am a Staff Governor, also currently serving as Link Governor for Special Educational Needs.
My first experience of this school was as a student teacher, more than twenty years ago. I loved it so much that I stayed, taking on numerous roles and responsibilities over the years. After taking some time out to have my two children, I am currently Head of Media Studies and Leader of Learning and Achievement (LoLA) for Year 13. As an established member of staff and governor, I hope to bring both experience and innovation to the role, ensuring that the welfare and achievements of the children that I teach remains at the heart of everything we do.
My name is Steve and I help manage a family run health and social care business. We provide permanent and respite care, day care and support approximately 250 service users in the wider community. We have over 200 employees and are also an accredited training provider and “investor in people” company.
I have lived in Sutton in Ashfield for 12 years and have two primary school aged children. I have previously served as a local authority appointed primary school governor.
I have a 2:1 BSc Degree in Psychology and a longstanding interest in education. I was very impressed with this school from my first visit and look forward to being a “critical friend” and support to the dedicated team at Sutton Academy. I also feel I can learn from my experiences as a governor.
My name is Charlotte Smith and I am a parent governor at Sutton Community Academy. I became a governor at the academy so that I could actively help to develop the education and welfare of children attending the school.
I have lived in Sutton in Ashfield for 14 years and my child attends the school. I work in a college teaching adults with additional needs and therefore have a passion for education. I also have a strong interest in how the school helps students with additional needs reach their full potential.
I believe that Sutton Community Academy is an ‘outstanding’ school with the interests of its students at the centre of everything it does.
