Sixth Form Closure – Important Update
We would like to inform our school community that, following formal approval from the Department for Education’s Regional Director, the Sixth Form at Sutton Community Academy will officially close on 1 September 2026.
This decision follows a detailed review and consultation process, during which we carefully considered the long-term sustainability of our post-16 provision and how best to meet the needs of our students. As part of this transition, no new Year 12 students will be admitted in September 2025. Our current Year 12 students will continue into Year 13 and complete their studies by June 2026.
Although this marks a significant change, our commitment to supporting students in their post-16 journey remains steadfast. We have put in place a comprehensive programme to ensure every student is fully prepared for life beyond Year 11, including:
- A strong Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) programme from Year 7 onwards.
- One-to-one careers guidance with a qualified advisor.
- Post-16 provider events and information evenings for students and families.
- Application and interview support to help students succeed.
- Ongoing mentoring and tracking to ensure students are confident and on track with their next steps.
We are incredibly proud of the resilience, ambition, and potential of our students. We remain fully committed to supporting each of them—and their families—through this transition and beyond.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s options, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
