From September 2023, our school day timings will be:
The school day begins at 8:30am. We expect all students to arrive at school between 8:20-8:27am and be present at their tutor room by 8:30am.
Students start each day with a 30 minute tutor period / morning meeting, where they will register, touch-base with their tutor, receive key messages, take part in important parts of our pastoral, careers and PSHCE (personal, social, health and citizenship education) curriculum, go to assemblies, attend morning meetings, careers events, and prepare themselves for the day.
We operate a 4-period day, each lesson being an enhanced 1hr 15min long. This allows additional time for students to reflect on learning, complete practical activities and enjoy full PE sessions. Students have two equal breaks of 30 minutes, in order to provide students with more choice of when to eat, and give fair access to the canteen and outdoor spaces. Hot meals and hot/cold snacks are available to all students at their designated times from the Canteen, Ploughman’s Suite and Princess Suite. There are also sufficient indoor and outdoor eating spaces available for students who prefer to bring a packed lunch.
We encourage all students to bring a named bottle to school to ensure they remain hydrated through the day. Water fountains are available in various locations around the site for students to refill these during break times. Please note that for year 10 and above exams, bottles must be clear and not have any text on them.
